1. First click on the application menu in the bottom left (where the Start menu is in Windows), then in the text box type “users”. You can then hit Enter on your keyboard or you can select Users with your mouse.

  1. The Users - System Settings window will come up. Here, you can Create a New User Account, but to change your password for this account, you can left click on the cfsy user under Your Account.

  1. The window will partition and on the right you’ll see text boxes where you can add your actual name at the top, but we’ll select Change Password with your mouse.

  1. A little Change Password window will pop up, and you can enter your new password in, then again in the second box to confirm that you’ve typed it in accurately. You can hit enter on your keyboard, or click Set Password with your mouse.

  1. A new box will pop up saying that Authentication is required to change your own user password. This is just making sure you have the authority to do what you’re doing, which is nice of your computer to check about.

Here you enter the original password that the cfsy user account was given (which is insecure): password 2. You should now be back at the main Users - System Settings window that you started in. From here, you can either click Apply at the bottom right, or if that’s grayed out, close the window with X at the top right.

Alternatively, you can Add New User if you want personal accounts for everyone using the computer. Be aware that the new accounts won’t come with the customization from us, but will be defaulted MX Linux accounts that individuals can customize from that point.
