Yes. Our wallpaper that we chose to go out on our computers is pretty awesome, but we get it. Sometimes you want to switch it up, and choosing your own wallpaper image out of the plethora of images available online can be a big step in making your computer feel more like YOUR computer.

  1. Right click anywhere on your Desktop in an empty area of your wallpaper image.
  2. Select Configure Desktop and Wallpaper...
  3. The Desktop Folder Settings window will come up defaulting on showing your wallpaper settings.

  1. Right away, you have many options for different images that are included with MX Linux, as well as alternatives that we’ve included for you.
  2. To add your own pictures to this library, you can click on the + Add Image... near the bottom right which will open a file explorer window. You can navigate to the directory you have downloaded pictures into.
  3. Other things of interest:
    1. Layout: Folder View shows all files in the Desktop directory on top of your wallpaper for easy access. Desktop View ironically will give you a clear desktop that only has your wallpaper image with no clutter on top.
    2. Wallpaper Type: We won’t explain all of these, but Slideshow allows you to choose a selection of images that can switch every now and then (whenever you prefer). Picture of the Day uses various online services to grab different pictures from the internet for each day. Haenau and Hunyango are a bit of a mystery. Image is the default if you want to use just a single image that you like.
    3. Positioning: This is just about squeezing, stretching or otherwise fitting an odd sized image better onto the screen. Scaled and Cropped is a pretty good setting because it will try to fit the image to the width or height for whichever is closest, and cut off the extra.
  4. After you select any image, you can click on Apply in the bottom right of the window to see it in the background. If you like what you see, you can click on OK, or the X at the top right to exit this window.
