Northwestel email is like vanilla ice cream. It gets the job done much of the time, but it’s nothing fancy.
I think the largest complaint I’ve heard is the limited screening of junk mail, and for many people, that’s enough to warrant looking for another service to help. Another concern I’ve heard is how many people find it overwhelming thinking of moving all their contacts and email flow from one service to another.
I have good news! You don’t completely have to move.
I’m going to explain how you can funnel your Northwestel emails into a Gmail account, although you can use a more private service as well like Proton Mail or Tuta Mail. These other services are paid subscriptions, but the extra privacy is worth it in my opinion. I’ve been using Proton for my personal email.
Create an email account. If you want to create a secure password, check this password article out 🙂
Once you’re signed into the account (in this case Gmail), you can go into your settings menu:
Select Accounts and Import along the top menu, then you can scroll down in the settings to Send mail as: then select Add another email address. Here we’re setting up your Gmail account to be able to send emails through your Northwestel account. If you want your destination contacts to eventually migrate over to using your new account, under When replying to a message: you can select Always reply from default address
Next we’ll be setting up the account to check your Northwestel account for emails and bring them over. Under Check mail from other accounts: click Add a mail account
