I have compiled a list of software and software alternatives for using in Linux. Most are opensource and free with the exception of a couple. These are targeted at Linux but a lot of the mentioned software is available on Windows and Mac OS as well so they are worth looking into if you want to save some money.
I will be adding and updating the list from time to time so if anyone has any software they would like to suggest let me know and I will add it to the list.
