Most versions of Windows will have a simple two-key command in order to take a screenshot, in the case of Windows 7 through 11 the command is ⊞ Win + PtrScn (Print Screen). The easy way to think about this is that the computer is “printing” your current screen into an image file format.

Linux

Similar to Windows, Linux also utilizes the Print Screen key but instead of using the ⊞ Win button we’ll be using the Alt or Shift key (depending on your version of Linux), so our screenshot command will look like this Alt/Shift + PtrScn. At this point you should be able to find the given screenshot in the “screenshots” section of your chosen file explorer.

Mac OS

Mac OS, otherwise known as the Apple OS has a three key screenshot command, that being

Shift + Command + 3
